I shouldn’t have said ‘on behalf of the kate bush forum’ because as you know, the feeling is divided as to whether or not making this available to download was the’ethical’ thing to do. Thing is, it’s like being on a diet for, oh I don’t know 24 months (since the release of Aerial!!!) and then being given the biggest chocolate bar on the planet :>0…..most of us would devour the candy and then feel bad about it but I say ‘life’s to bloody short! enjoy what it gives you and chill out!’. I guess we all have our different opinions on this but one thing is felt in uniform, we all appreciate you giving us the opportunity to listen to this. I didn’t mean to set myself up to represent the ‘whole’ of the forum (certainly not the administration) but I think that the majority of it’s members feel the same, myself included!

On behalf of the katebushforum.com thank you so very much for this. We are pretty much in agreement (so far) that this is a far superior version. There was a lot of what made this song beautiful lost in the re-work of it, which is a shame and you’re so right ‘the world should hear this song.’ I have downloaded it and am very thankful to you :>)

Thank you for this! It’s so lovely. I’ve been listening to it over and over. The song went from being my least favorite song on The Red Shoes (though I did like the Prince-infused version, but something has to be last) to my favorite song.

You’ve earned the eternal gratitude of Kate Bush fans the world over. We posted a link to this page on the Homeground forum. Hopefully you’re not going to be hit too hard with download requests. I searched for and found your original post about your experience on this track and with Prince. I have a lot of respect for him, but never thought the two of them together was anywhere near as good as either separately.

Thank you so much for making this available. I’ve always wondered what the song sounded like before Prince added to the track. It’s absolutely beautiful pared down like this, and there are extra lyrics which were cut from the final released version.

I should add that this is a mix I did from the multi-track tape that Kate sent. I pulled this off of a cassette tape that was rotting away at the bottom of a big box of old tapes.
